The Technological Institute of Informatics held during the 5th and 6th of November the second edition of the JICAN event on Computer Intelligence Tools Applied to Business
In times of economic uncertainty, the optimization of the resources of a company as well as the obtaining of reliable future forecasts is even more important.
Making optimal business decisions, improving the performance and profitability of the companies, as well as having tools to make intelligent decisions determines the strength of enterprises and their competitiveness in the market.
With this objective, the Technological Institute of Informatics organized an event where national and international experts presented new tools based on Computational Intelligence that help making intelligent decisions and their application in the business scope.
Computational Intelligence is a branch of artificial intelligence that allows the software to solve complex problems through the simulation of processes and phenomena that occur in the nature like the behavior of the human brain or the evolution of the species. For this, a variety of computer science techniques is used that make the software ¨seeming intelligent¨, that is, it can modify its behavior based on its experience identical to the learning process of humans and animals.
There are a lot of applications of Computational Intelligence: in the financial field through the development of risk forecast systems and optimized management of investment portfolios, in the field of logistics and transport through the development of systems for routing and optimal placement in stores, in the field of production through the development of systems for demand forecasts and optimized production scheduling, and in other areas like telecommunications, art or entertainment.
During the event on Thursday different software solutions developed by the Technological Institute of Informatics were discussed, all aiming at optimizing different fields, like software to optimize production scheduling implemented in industry-leading companies of the tile industry, software solutions for sales forecasting and optimized planning and production scheduling, as well as tools for the optimization of routes and logistics.
During the afternoon the different possibilities of Computational Intelligence in the entertainment industry were discussed, like the field of videogames which is booming today, to debate later about the advantages and opportunities to use those intelligent solutions as a tool for companies to differentiate and to position themselves in these times of crisis.
